Accessibility Statement

Our commitment

The Bank at Bude is committed to making our restaurant and our website usable by as many people as possible, in line with the Equality Act 2010. We want everyone — including guests using assistive technology — to find us, browse the menu, and book a table with ease.

Standards we aim for on this website

• We build to WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our baseline.
• Full keyboard navigation with a visible focus indicator on every interactive element.
• Skip-to-main-content link at the top of every page.
• Touch targets aim for at least 44×44 pixels on mobile.
• Semantic landmarks (header, navigation, main, footer) and a sensible heading hierarchy.
• Meaningful alternative text on photography and decorative imagery marked accordingly.
• Animations respect prefers-reduced-motion— if you've set that on your device, scroll animations are softened.
• Designed against WCAG 2.2 AA colour-contrast guidance for body text and UI controls.
• Forms and embedded widgets use accessible labels and ARIA where appropriate.

Known limitations

We are honest about what we don't yet have nailed:

• Our reservation system is provided by OpenTable, and the embedded map by Google. Their controls follow their own accessibility standards, which are very good but not under our direct control. If you hit a blocker, please call us on 01288 352070 and we'll book your table by phone.
• Our menus are also provided as downloadable PDFs. We can read the menu over the phone or send large-print text on request.

Accessibility at the restaurant

Our main dining area is on the ground floor. Free off-street parking is available directly outside. Well-behaved assistance dogs are always welcome. Please call ahead and we'll do our best to accommodate any specific access needs — we'd rather know in advance so we can have the right table set up for you.
